I finally made it out to the Park City area in the fall to capture the vibrant colors of the aspen trees. Since my trip wasn’t until mid-October, I had pretty low expectations, thinking that the peak colors had already passed. I also learned that there was a fungus that affected the aspens at mid-mountain elevations, and I was told that the colors just weren’t very good this year. So, again, I really didn’t expect to see much worth photographing.

Fortunately, with a bit of effort and hiking up to higher elevations, I found some amazing yellow-orange groves of aspen trees that appeared to almost glow in the mid-day sun. The weather also cooperated and I was treated to a wonderful autumn day with a crystal blue sky. Maybe this was an off year for the colors of the changing trees, but, I was pretty happy with what I saw.
